Every October, people pile into the same three or four big-name haunts and deal with the same stuff: hour-long lines, overpriced everything, a sea of humanity in a parking garage somewhere. And that’s fine. Those places have their thing. But if you want something that actually feels like Halloween… like real, bonfire-smoke-in-your-jacket, stars-above-the-cornfield, your-friend-just-screamed-so-loud-she-lost-her-voice Halloween… then you need to drive 30 minutes north of the city.
Eerie Acres is a family-owned haunted attraction in Butler, PA, just off Eagle Mill Road. It started the way the best things do: two families who loved Halloween decided to scare the neighborhood kids out of a creepy old Victorian barn. That was almost a decade ago. Now it’s a full-blown haunted farm with an indoor haunt, a cornfield walk that’ll mess with your head, food trucks, a beer garden run by Helltown Brewery and Creekside Cellars Winery, and the biggest bonfire you’ve ever sat next to.
General admission is $25. That’s it. Twenty-five bucks for a legit haunt experience, plus the midway is free to walk around, so your friends who are too chicken to go inside can still hang out, eat some pierogies, and roast you when you come out looking shook.

The Details
Eerie Acres runs every Friday and Saturday night through October. The midway opens at 7 PM, haunt kicks off at dark. They’re at 386 Eagle Mill Road in Butler. Fast Pass is $45 if you want to skip the line. Groups of 20 or more get $2 off per ticket. And they do private parties and bonfires if you’re looking for a spot for a birthday, bachelorette, or team outing.
